Round 9 Preview Part 3
This is ASP, The Preview for Round 9 goes like this,

Two Teams separated by just the half-way line on the ladder face up at the ‘Gabba. Brisbane coming off a win against Carlton last week are looking in fine form, with big Jono Brown dominating up front. Simon Black and Luke Power continue to operate the midfield with optimum skill, a young up and coming defence is ever improving. While the Saints who have been struck again by serious injury problems, the men of Morabin have looked in contention for many seasons but have been let down continually by a dire Fitness and Conditioning department. Things are looking rosy for St Kilda, it’s the Lions here by and easy 35 points. Brisbane vs St Kilda Gabba, Brisbane ( 1.10pm )
Last time Melbourne played a No. 1 team the headlines all said percentage boost for the Cats. Come Game day, and wouldn’t you guess it the Demons put up a real fight leading for much of the day, even with flag unfurling in the background they were unfazed. Taking a lead at quarter time, they were eventually overcome by a matter of points. Will Hawthorn learn the lesson and go in with no contempt for the Demons. It should prove to be a very good game, while I along with many believe the Hawks can overpower the Demons, they should be taken seriously as they can play good football against quality opposition. Hawthorn by 10 points. Melbourne vs Hawthorn MCG ( 2.10pm )
Footscray and North Melbourne at Telstra Dome is the contest of two teams who are suffering with Membership and money in general. While Both continue to play good football they can’t survive forever in there present financial situation. Looking on-field the Roos certainly have the cattle on the park to be triumphant over the Dogs, while the boys of the West always competes well, and is never last at a contest. It just looks as if they don’t have enough Brad Johnson’s down front, leaving aside smiling faces they just don’t have the firepower to compete with North. Should stay close all day the Kangas her by a lazy 20 points. Western Bulldogs vs North Melbourne Telstra Dome ( 4.40pm )

Round 9 Preview Part 2
This is ASP, the preview for Round 9 goes like this,

For the second time in six rounds the Power face up the Swans of Sydney, a bizarre piece of AFL fixturing gives Port the opportunity to correct the 70-point loss in Round 2. With Shuan Burgoyne out, and Mark Williams still with Foot stuck in Mouth has and AFL fine hanging over his head. Putting both these teams together, and taking into consideration there current form. It’s the Swans here by 15 points Port Adelaide vs Sydney AAMI Stadium, Adelaide ( 3.10pm )
Dreamtime at the ‘G is on again, it gives a real indication of the lifelong impact that Kevin Sheedy has had on our great game, still making differences within Indiginous communities Sheeds is really giving the traditional folk of this country something to be really proud about. Onto the game, once again past form will have a real impact on this game, the Dons have a real quality attacking streak in them, they run hard even if they don’t have the silky skills. However, what will hold them back here is the fact that there Defence is really lacking, in the games to Round Eight they have conceded more points than any other team. For the first term in a long time, the Tigers go in favourites and deservedley so. Richmond to romp it home here with the big Richo man dominating, Tigers here by 30 points. Who would have thought, two quality teams from a few seasons back - Adelaide haven’t lost any, but the Eagles how could they have gone down hill so fast, the may have lost two Kingpins of the midfield in Judd and Cousins. This still doesn’t give them an excuse. Amazingly, it looks like the Eagles will - hold your breath - TANK! There sitting well down in the bottom half with not a whole lot to perform for. Taking nothing from the Crows how have done a great job of fixing there forward problem. By converting a few midfielders into attacking forward men. Even at Subiaco, this should be the Crows by plenty. Adelaide here by 25 points. West Coast vs Adelaide Subiaco Oval ( 7.40pm )

Round 9 Preview
This is ASP, the preview for Round 9 goes like this, Friday May 23rd 2008
The Preliminary final replay is on, the Magpies of Collingwood plays host to the Cats of Geelong. While the Cats one by 5 points and went on to pick up the flag, the Cats are still in a strong position, the Pies have a strong group of 22-men hitting the MCG but it still have the key matchups for Geelong. This looks like being a one sided game, and being the thirteenth win in a row. The Cats here by 30 points. Collingwood vs Geelong MCG ( 7.40pm )

Two perennial under-achievers of the 21st century meet up here at the Dome. The Blues have the bristling forward who is dominating in classic style, a man by the name of B.Fevola, great for all Navy fans but the Dockers throw up a certain player of the same calibre - M.Pavlich. The Blues have the young gun midfield, brought together beutifully by Chris Judd, on the same note, the Dockers also have a very nice middle six. The difference here is in the six men down back. The Dockers have a seasoned group, while the Blues are nurturing there back group. The Dockers here by 9 points. Carlton vs Fremantle Telstra Dome ( 2.10pm )

Round 2 Results
This is ASP, Results for Round 2 went like this,
The Gabba played home to an absolute nail-biter involving the Lions of Brisbane and the Pies of Collingwood. The Lions snuck over the line by a staggering two points. Collingwood fought hard all night, being in front for portions of the game. While the Pies kept it tight the Lions fell over the line with just seconds to play.

Melbourne were given a crash course in the harsh realities of AFL season, the 2008 season is looking very long for every single Demons fan. Taking nothing away from the Bulldogs outstanding defence and stream-lining play, the Dees were truly atrocious.
Melbourne 9.12 (66) Western Bulldogs 24.17 (161) MCG
Cousins, Judd, no longer and didn’t the Coast feel it. Just two years since there premiership glory, the harsh reality is a pill very hard to swallow for all the passionate followers of this great club, that will certainly bounce back. As for the game, we saw a new brand of forward line with the smalls dominating and running rampant over the ravished Eagles defence.

St Kilda flexed there muscle in this one, the return of Fraser Gehrig was heralded by all, bar of course those of the navy blue. The Saints put in a quality performace at the Dome, were we saw a new Carlton come out to play, a true credit to both teams.

Home or away the Dockers continue to be the basket case of the League. On the other side of the fence, the Hawks of yesteryear are shining through as we see yet another rampaging Number 23 dominating the forward line for the Brown and Yellow
Fremantle 14.13 (97) Hawthorn 16.16 (112) Subiaco
The Power continue to slip from their title as the Runner-Up of 07. Play in the Harbor city was all one-directional as the Swans showed skill, yet a different brand to that, that brought them the flag of 05. The Swans were in devastating form all day, showing the attacking flair that they do have.
Sydney 22.14 (146) Port Adelaide 11.12 (78) SCG
Games rarely get more one-sided than this one. The reigning premiers left the skill in third gear and still ran away by 99 points. Poor is one of hundreds that could fairly describe the Bombers performance. Given the Bronx treatment all day Adam McPhee found no new friends in the folk wearing his colours on the other side of the fence.
Geelong 22.18 (150) Essendon 6.15 (51) Telstra Dome
The North that made it deep into the finals last year were up and about once again. The Skill, and talent of the whole team working together shone through as the Tigers, helpless to the continuos onslaught, crumbled in the pressure. Richmond 13.8 (86) North Melbourne 20.7 (127) MCG

Round 1 Results
Round One saw blowout victories and humiliating victories.
Carlton was especially disappointing against Richmond. Chris Judd had a terribly debut as captain, with the Tigers putting in a great performance. Very lucky win for the Tigers, and easy too. CAR 11.13 (79) RIC 17.7 (109)
Geelong showed their skills that one them last years premiership have gone no where, with an emphatic victory over the Power. Despite having the four points in hand, the Cats did fade causing coach Mark Thompson to take each player aside, and forcing them to explain their reason for the fade. Perfection is still what they are striving for. GEE 15.15 (105) PA 14.12 (96)
Collingwood came out on top with a hard fought contest, that saw Fremantle stay close all day. Even with the victory, injuries have left a bitter taste. Sean Rusling has done his shoulder for the third time and puts his season and carrer in doubt. COL 16.15 (111) FRE 13.7 (85)
West Coast put in a team performance, while Brisbane put in the Jonathon Brown Show. The big man down forward tried to keep them in the game all day, but was overwhelmed in the end. West Coast will be looking for a season with consistency. The Lions are looking down the barrel of a tough season. WCE 14.8 (92) BL 11.10 (76)
Games between Sydney and St Kilda are always tough scrappy affairs, but this match took that exact phrase to a new level - right down. It’s very to judge St Kilda’s style on such a game, with Sydneys shut down tactics rubbing off on the Saints. This could well be the last nail for the game plan that one them the 2005 Premiership. As expected, this one between Footscray and Adelaide was close all day. Yet surprisingly free-flowing, the Crows scouting for fast-legs showed. With plays never before associated with the boys of the South state. Brad brought it home in his 300th, with the rest of the team supporting him superbly. WBD 19.12 (126) ADE 18.15 (123)
The Late game at the ‘G between Hawthorn and Melbourne, couldn’t of been any later for the Dees. In there 150th year, such a performance hopefully isn’t an indication for future performances.104 point loss to Hawthorn, enough said. HAW 23.16 (154) MEL 6.14 (50)
Easter Monday was a day for the see-saw. North got out to a quick lead in the first, and you could already hear the sounds of bombers calling for Knights’ head. All was aliviated though, as the Dons reeled it back in, and then dished it out. A drubbing is what it turned into, while Scott Lucas’ leg was left in this same condition, half a season gone right there. KAN 9.13 (67) ESS 19.8 (122)
